Title: Quantum Metrology and weak force estimation Abstract:
Quantum Metrology is the study of the parameter estimation problem when the studied system follows dynamics described by quantum mechanics. Indistinguishability and back-action, two intrinsically quantum phenomena, turn the parameter estimation task more complicated than for purely classical system (classical dynamics). On the other hand, quantum features like entanglement or squeezing helps to increase the precision. The aim of Quantum Metrology is to exploit quantum resources to achieve better precision in parameter estimation problems. In this talk we introduce general and central concepts in Quantum Metrology (Fisher Information, Quantum Fisher Information, Cramer-Rao bound). Then we mention the problem of the noise (unavoidable interaction with some environment) and give a possible method to take it into account. We illustrate the method by the example of estimation of classical force. Finally we mention some perspectives and open problems.
