SAIP 2009 Winter School
SAIP 2009 Winter School on Quantum Information Processing and Communication
Quantum information processing is a young and vigorously active new interdisciplinary research field. It aims at processing information which is stored in quantum systems such as atoms, molecules and photons. The processing of information is governed by the laws of quantum mechanics and cannot be adequately described by classical information theory. Among others it opens the possibility to perform very fast computational tasks (quantum computing) and transmit data securely against eavesdropping (quantum cryptography). This Winter school offers a brief introduction into current topics in this exciting research field.
Venue: Westville Campus, T-Block, Lecture Theatre T2
