data@breakfast: Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)

September 27, 2019 @ 7:00 am - 8:30 pm UTC+0

Friday 27 September 2019
7:00 am for 7:30am to 8:30am

This month’s talk is by Brad Mears, a consultant working mainly in the health sector, but has a passion for all aspects of aviation. Brad is actively exploring how drones can positively transform our society.  His talk is titled:

 “Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)”

With drone technology capable of being placed into the hands of anyone and everyone, UAVs are a threat to our privacy, and the way we know our lives?  Presently they are being used to overcome very practical problems, especially in third world countries. Looking to the future they present an opportunity to confront some of our country’s biggest challenges – political, environmental, economic growth and employment, and security, more so when combined with the use of big data and A.I.
The event will be held in the Senate Chamber on UKZN Westville Campus. It can be found at point A1 on the map below.
