Introduction to Open Quantum Systems

As part of our weekly Open Quantum System meeting we will give a couple of introductory lectures on Open Quantum Systems. The first lecture will present one of the general methods used to derive the famous Markovian master equations. The main approximations will also be discussed. In the next lectures applications to an electromagnetic cavity mode interacting with thermal light and to two-level atoms interacting with thermal baths will be presented.
