Over the last few years, nanotechnology has radically changed the fields of physical sciences and engineering, somewhat comparable to the emergence of superconductivity in 1986. However, this new area is more extensive in its potential impact: it encompasses not only physics, chemistry, materials science and engineering, but also biology and medicine.
Nanotechnology research is leading to an unprecedented understanding of and control over the basic building blocks and properties of most natural and man-made objects. In addition, advances in nano-fabrication, using top-down as well as bottom-up technologies, have afforded the ability to work at the atomic and molecular levels to create large structures with fundamentally new functionalities.
Therefore, understanding what nanotechnology is and why it matters is the first step in a roadmap toward our future: it is the next generation for industries, financial markets, research labs, headlines, and our everyday lives.
This presentation will focus on an informed and balances look at nanotechnology and its future. Also provide the real science behind nanotechnology, nano-scale materials, nano-structured materials and applied nanotechnology.
