Spring School on Theoretical and Computational Foundations of Quantum Technologies

24-28 October 2023, Alpine Heath Resort, Northern Drakensberg.

Aim of the School:

The School is aimed at postgraduate students in physics, mathematics, applied mathematics, and computer science interested in both theoretical and computational aspects of quantum technologies. In particular, the School aims to provide an introduction to Quantum Computing, Machine Learning for Quantum Physics, Quantum Communication and Quantum Machine Learning. Tutorials will follow lectures to put the theoretical material into practice.

Application and Registration:

Interested students registered for Honours, Masters and PhD, including postdoc in South Africa, are invited to submit their applications. As publicly funded institutions, the UKZN and NITheCS support the transformation of South Africa, and thus the School organizers highly encourage students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds to submit their applications.

It is a requirement that ALL SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS MUST BRING THEIR LAPTOPS AND HAVE BASIC PYTHON PROGRAMMING SKILLS.

The organizers will cover costs for travel (local only), accommodation and meals of students selected to attend the School. We want to encourage Institutions and supervisors to financially support their students (e.g. travel costs). Due to budgetary reasons, only a limited number of scholarships are available for suitably qualified students. Should you wish to attend the School, kindly complete the application form and register online before the closing date.
